Letter from Old Hastings Preservation Society

Welcome to the 62nd Old Town Carnival week.

You will find a programme packed with a variety of events organised by the community for you to enjoy. We appreciate your support of these events and hope you have a wonderful time.

This is my last OTCW as chair of OHPS and I would like to thank all those - traders, residents and others - who support the week year on year.

It is a great community effort which celebrates Hastings Old Town and welcomes you to explore what it has to offer. I hope you will find time during the week to visit the History House in Courthouse Street.

Have a wonderful week.

Anne Scott, Chair OHPS

Letter from Hastings Old Town Carnival Association Chairman

Old Town week is here again and there is much to look forward to. With this year’s Carnival theme being “Hastings goes to Hollywood” why not dress up as your favourite movie star or character and be part of the glitz and glamour. A number of people told me that last year’s Carnival was the best for some years. A lot of that had to do with the good weather we had, but it was also due to the extraordinary amount of work put in by our committee behind the scenes. My thanks go to them and to everyone that took part last year. I hope this year’s Carnival will be even better.

I would also like to thank the various authorities for their continuing support. As well as the Carnival, don’t miss the very popular pram race, the doughnut eating and gurning competition. On Carnival Day there will be local charity stalls on the Stade open space along with community choirs, drama groups, music and a fun ride. So please come along and enjoy the parade and all the many other events taking place. Don’t forget to bring your pennies for our lovely bucket collectors to whom we are most grateful. Monies collected go to numerous local good causes. Most of all have a fun week.

Reg Wood, Chairman, Hastings Old Town Carnival Association
