As a part of the Old Town Community, we would like to invite you to our Community Service at 10am on Sunday 3 August. The Community Service, held on the first Sunday of Old Town Carnival Week, began in 2021. What better time to celebrate the community spirit of our town than during a week when it is visible in all its glory? The many different ways in which people, individuals and groups, contribute to the life of our local community is something worth celebrating. To do this in a church service is, for us, a way of valuing and recognising one another, and thanking God, who gives us our different giչs and calls us to serve our neighbours and the common good. As you would expect (we hope), our All-Age Holy Communion service will include prayers for our community, and for the people who make it (that includes you). It will be followed by time to meet others over refreshments. All you need to do is show up – and if your role involves a recognisable uniform (Bonfire jersey, hi-vis, pirate, etc.) or symbol (banner, tools, etc.), then why not wear/bring it so we can fill the church with lifeboat crew, florists, ice- cream vendors and paramedics? You don’t need to tell us you’re coming, but if you plan on coming as a group, it would be helpful if you could drop us a line to help us cater for numbers.
